Brian Harman Clinches Sensational Win at the 151st Open Championship

Despite of being questioned psychologically during the weekend as to whether he could hold on to the Healthy Advantage that he’d made for himself. Brian Harman drop two shots in his opening four holes on Saturday and two in the opening five Sunday.

Looking behind at Harman’s career, the 36-years-old golfer had never won a major championship before. With star players like John Ram Victor Hovland, and Rory McIlroy rattling up the leaderboard, it was quite a ride for Harman to put his foot back down on the accelerator and moved away from those behind him. A wonderful moment for Brian Harman, as it was nice to hear him thank his his family and his wife but then didn’t come from a golfing family.

Coming for a non-golf background, Brian Harman was inspired watching a former U.S open Champion Steve Jones at the U.S at the Phoenix Open in 1997. It was the same tournament that Tiger Woods made a hole in one where Harman randomly got to meet his hero Steve Jones practice round.

In the last couple of days, both Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood knew that the moment had come for them to really grasp a little bit of momentum that they’d gathered and take the charge towards Brian Harman at the top of that leaderboard.

Tommy Fleetwood was about 15 yards behind and could sort of tell that he felt that the moment was just disappearing away a little bit.

In an interview with Golf Channel, Brian Harman noted that he was on a wreak the whole night before coming to Saturday’s open championship.

I kept thinking about something Kirby Smart said “I’m not going to be hunted, I’m gonna hunt”. I decided to get out and tried to take as much control as I could.
