Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame Mick Jagger turns 80 today – Happy Birthday

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Mick Jagger turns 80 today 26th July, 2023.

Mick Jagger, the iconic Rolling Stones sensation, was born on July 26, 1943, in Dartford, Kent, England. He was born as the eldest son to Basil “Joe” Jagger and Eva Ensley Mary Scutts. Jagger’s full name at birth is Michael Philip Jagger.

Mick attended Wentworth Primary School in Dartford, where he met his future bandmate Keith Richards. Jagger and Richards are lifelong friends to this day. Both loved playing music and carved the path of modern Rock ‘n’ Roll that we know today!

Mick’s love to music was prominent form his childhood where he was heavily influenced by American blues and R&B music. Some of his influences includes blues pioneers such as Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, and Robert Johnson.

To study finance, Mick got enrolled in the London School of Economics where his true intentions to pursue a career in music evoked. While studying, he reconnect with his old friend Keith Richards, and the duo, along with Brian Jones, Ian Stewart, and Charlie Watts, formed the band that would later be known as the Rolling Stones. And the rest is history!

He has won multiple prestigious awards for his immense contributions to the music industry. Some of them are, NME Award for New Disc Singer (1964), MTV Video Music Award for Best Overall Performance in a Video (1984), and World Soundtrack Award for Best Original Song Written Directly for a Film (2005). Mick Jagger was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and has won three Grammys. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II on Dec. 12, 2003, which is one of the most profound titles given to men for their extraordinary service.
